🍵 Recipe Alert: Chicken and Cannellini Bean Bone Broth

imageThe leaves are changing, the nights are cooler, and there is a productive buzz back in the air. It must be FALL! 🍂 My favorite season to clean out my gut, combat cold and flu germs, and prepare myself for the holiday season, and this bone broth recipe does just the trick!

This recipe will warm your body and nourish your soul. It seriously takes the average chicken soup to a whole new level! Every ingredient to this soup was selected because of its nutrient dense detoxifying and immune supporting properties.

BONE BROTH: This miracle superfood is more than just a fad. It is an all-in-one cure to so many ailments and should be a staple to everyone’s diets. Differ from regular chicken stock, bone broth is made by simmering chicken bones for 16-24 hours in water and organic apple cider vinegar to melt the most amount of nutrients from the cartilage, marrow and feet. It contains healing compounds like glycine, proline, gelatin, collagen, proline, glutamine, chondrotic sulfate, and glucosamine, and is rich in minerals calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, and silicone. These properties all contribute to its superhero powers and ability to assist in detoxification, ease digestion, increase gastric acids, treat leaky gut, improve arthritis and joint pain, reduce inflammation, combat cellulite, improve skin health, and increase the immune system. You can make your own broth at home or order it direct to your home from my favorite site,  Wise Choice Market .

BUTTERNUT SQUASH: A great seasonal starch that is low sugar and high in fiber. It is also high in vitamins C, E, A, and minerals magnesium, magnesium, and potassium to help sustain optimal energy levels and combat flu symptoms.

ORGANIC AND PASTURE RAISED CHICKEN THIGHS: I like using chicken thighs for this recipe because of the delicious shredding ability. Clean sources of chicken raised without hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, or fertilizers can serve as an anti-inflammatory agent by increasing the omega-3 content of triglycerides in your blood. It also supports cell metabolism and gives you the “feel good” hormones from B vitamins and serotonin production.

OREGANO: Who knew?! Oregano is the most antioxidant dense spice on the market and contains beta-caryophyllene which helps reduce inflammation.

CELERY: Another food that is high in antioxidants to help eliminate free radicals and also helps hydrate the body with its high water content. Celery also contains flavonoid luteoline that has been linked to anti-cancer properties.

KALE: A well known superfood, kale is a crucifer with enzymes that help detox the liver and helps prevent cancer by combating free radicals and chemical carcinogens in the body. Kale also contains a lot of fiber, protein, and omega-3.

DILL: Speeds up food digestion by increasing gastric acids, which are responsible for breaking down food.

CURLY PARSLEY: Another powerful detoxifier and also strong diuretic makes it a great addition to every recipe.

NUTRITIONAL YEAST: My new FAVE vegan parm-cheese substitute. It contains 4g of protein/tablespoon, B-vitamins (especially B-12), folic acid, selenium, and zinc. It’s nutty and buttery and I love adding it to every Italian recipe.
